“The seventh annual Ocean Pool Crawl was held May 2009 and broke all records in raising much needed funds for Cancer Council NSW. It was a sensational day weather and results wise with our target of $20,000 being achieved. Almost 100 participated starting in buses from the Palm Court Hotel and completing 2 laps in 7 Ocean Pools from Coalcliff to Towradgi, then back to the Palm Court Hotel for awards and celebrations. Highest fund raiser was Martin Merritt with $1000 and best Fairy Dress of the day was won by Luke Daniels and runner up went to Gail Murray. Organiser Phil Murray said “beside the almost 100 participants the days success was ensured by co organiser Keryn Hughes and Major sponsorship from Palm Court Hotel Corrimal, MMJ North and Savvy Health & Fitness, not only providing sponsorship but also 50 participants including the “Big Fish” himself Glenn Saville plus 10 hardy souls who ran from the Palm Court Hotel to the first pool at Coalcliff.
